Professor Ben Morgan, MEng CEng FIMechE

Interim Chief Executive Officer, The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC)

Ben is Interim Chief Executive Officer at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). He is responsible for leading the 600-strong organisation to deliver transformational impact to UK manufacturing.

Ben was previously the AMRC Chief Technology Officer and has been a part of the Executive Board since 2020.

Since joining the AMRC in 2009, he has held several key positions, including Head of the Integrated Manufacturing Group and leadership of Factory 2050 – a £43 million facility dedicated to reconfigurable and digitally driven manufacturing, artificial intelligence and digitally assisted assembly.

Ben has a proven track record of driving innovations into industry and has won several BAE Systems Chairman’s Business Innovation awards in his time at the AMRC through developing automated solutions for aircraft manufacturing.

Ben has been primary lead on a large number of ATI/Innovate UK bids across a number of sectors including aerospace, defence and construction.

Ben sits on the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Management Board and leads the AMRC Executive Board.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running and road biking around Yorkshire.
