Our impact on manufacturing and the UK economy

At the junction of business, research, and government, we convene broad coalitions to develop the UK manufacturing sector. With almost half a £billion of R&D directly linked to our activity each year, we are generating real value for the UK taxpayer.

Industrial partners since 2011

SME partners since 2011

Over our decade of work, we have helped more and more businesses each year to grasp the opportunity of innovation and grow.

We’re helping to move cutting-edge research from the UK’s world-leading universities into the commercial market, supporting companies to transform the products they sell, the way they make them and the skills of their manufacturing workforce.

The companies we work with tell us that, with our support, they have been able to:

  • Accelerate product and process development
  • Improve productivity
  • Reduce costs
  • Reduce carbon emissions and harm to the environment
  • Secure employment
  • Develop their workforce
  • Strengthen their financial position

Independent evaluation

An independent retrospective evaluation of our performance from 2011 to 2016 found that “the HVM Catapult has effectively supported firms to ‘bridge the gap’ between research and commercial exploitation” and concluded that the overall impact of our work was likely to be “very substantial”.
