Andy Jones

Andy Jones is an experienced independent consultant in the field of the medicines manufacturing. In addition to his NED role on the board of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, he is the scientific advisor to the Supervisory Board of the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre and an advisor to the board of CatSci a medicines development CDMO.

From 2018 to 2022 Andy led UKRI’s Medicines Manufacturing Industrial Strategy Challenge fund, a £181m fund designed to enhance the pace of development, manufacture and delivery of medicines in the UK.

Prior to joining UKRI Andy spent more than 30 years’ working in development and manufacturing in the pharmaceutical industry. He has held senior positions in science and technology leadership, site management and project and portfolio management, giving him a broad overview of the development of new medicines and healthcare technologies.

Andy has a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wales Institute of Science & Technology and joined the pharmaceutical industry following a period of postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado.
