Digital technologies are transforming our world. They are creating huge opportunities and disrupting how businesses operate. The future of manufacturing is already being shaped by this revolution. Whether it is known as Industrie 4.0, the Industrial Internet of Things or Smart Manufacturing, the landscape is changing fast. Keeping the UK competitive in that landscape is vital.  As part of the process of developing an Industrial Strategy for the UK the Government has commissioned a Review of Industrial Digitalisation led by Juergen Maier, UK CEO of Siemens.

An important part of this review is to understand the barriers that prevent investment/adoption of digital technology. Uptake in the UK is too low and the Government wants to understand why that is and more importantly what policies should be considered to improve investment and increase UK productivity.
