The First Minister of Scotland visits the AFRC

On Wednesday 29th March, the First Minister of Scotland, the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP, visited the Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), a part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, to meet with manufacturers and key industry stakeholders.

On Wednesday 29th March, the First Minister of Scotland, the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP, visited the Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), a part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, to meet with manufacturers and key industry stakeholders.

During the visit, the First Minister had a tour of the centre with Dr Lynne O’Hare, the AFRC’s Chief Business Development Officer, Professor Keith Ridgway CBE and Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal & Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde. Throughout the tour, the First Minister met with some of the AFRC engineers, researchers, apprentices, customers and members.

Following the First Minister’s visit to the AFRC, a roundtable discussion was held with manufacturers from different industries. The discussion focused on how the Scottish manufacturing sector can be modernised and grown to help boost the economy.
