She said: “It’s quite a big decision to invest in R&D. Especially as we’re speaking today in this economic downturn, R&D is sadly something that companies may have to put on the back burner.
“The most important thing is to ensure that the companies that do make decisions to invest in this country and its people have the confidence to continue doing that.”
