The Manufacturing Technology Centre is bringing together additive manufacturing experts and users from across the UK to discuss how to take this important technology forward. Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, is one of the fastest growing area of advanced manufacturing.

The Coventry-based MTC is holding an industrial user focused workshop in March. “Mastering AM: Sharing User Experience” will provide a unique opportunity for the AM community in the UK to share experience in sessions covering; design for AM, feed-stock management, AM build processes, as well as part finishing and inspection. To support the transition of AM into production of end-use parts the critically important areas of certification & standards, health & safety and facility design will also be covered. This free to attend, intensive workshop would particularly suit AM practitioners, designers and end-users.

The MTC houses the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing, bringing together the most comprehensive combination of equipment and capability in the UK. It is also home to the European Space Agency’s additive manufacturing benchmarking centre.

National Centre Chief Technologist, David Wimpenny, said additive manufacturing is a fast-growing area within the UK’s manufacturing industry. Many OEMs are now looking to improve quality, cost and productivity with additive manufactured parts from their supply chain.

“This event will bring together experts and practitioners from across the UK’s manufacturing sector to share knowledge and experience which will help us take AM technology forward and help others with adoption and development,” he said.

“It is vitally important that we learn from each other and this event provides a unique and long overdue platform for sharing information between new and established AM users.”

The conference will include presentations from Renault F1 and LPW.

The conference will be held at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre on Ansty Park, Coventry on Wednesday, March 27 from 9am, with breakfast at 8am. Places are limited, so those interested in registering should visit: www.the-mtc.org/MasteringAM
