Judith joined the Board of HVM Catapult in January 2014 and became senior independent non Exec in March 2018. She is a chemical engineer and worked in chemicals manufacturing industry for more than 25 years. She also has extensive experience of interacting with Government and conducted an Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety for the Government in the wake of the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. She was Director General of the Chemical Industries Association for several years making the case for the UK chemicals industry with passion based on personal experience and then moved to Brussels to bring that same passion to representing all of Europe’s chemical industry.
Judith spent 9 years as Chair of the Health and Safety Executive stepping down from the role in March 2016. She is a Fellow and Trustee of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a fellow and former President of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Judith is currently Chair of Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation and Chair of SEMTA the Engineering skills body. She was appointed to the Board of HS2 in April 2019.
