SAMULET- Boeing and Rolls-Royce

The SAMULET programme aims to strengthen the supply chain for the national aero-engine industry and accelerate the introduction of low-carbon engine technologies. It is a long-term investment backed by the UK government.

Samulet was launched in 2009 with £40 million funding from the Innovate UK and EPSRC. That public funding leveraged in around £35 million from industrial partners led by Rolls-Royce, a tier one member of the AMRC with Boeing.

The AMRC with Boeing worked on a number of projects in the first phase of Samulet, primarily in collaboration with Rolls-Royce. The work brought together many of the innovative techniques and technologies being developed by the AMRC?s machining-focused Process Technology Group (PTG), and applied them to specific manufacturing challenges in a series of inter-related research projects.
