The UK is the world’s 11th largest manufacturing nation, playing a leading part in the £6.7tr global manufacturing industry.

Although UK manufacturing has seen a well-documented decline since the 1970s – when manufacturing made up 25% of UK GDP and when 25% of the country’s employment was in manufacturing – the industry is still performing strongly and plays a critical role in a balanced UK economy.
