Digital technologies & manufacturing leadership
Now is the time for the UK to decide its position on Industry 4.0, says Dr Phill Cartwright, CTO at the High Value Manufacturing Catapult31 October 2016
The 4th industrial revolution is the coming together of cyber networks, with physical networks, to create new autonomous systems. It creates an environment where businesses can give customers exactly what they want when they want it, with all the variations they specify, from the same factory, in a shorter lead time, and more profitably than is possible today.
Companies in Britain are already using Industry 4.0-type technologies and driving innovation in digital manufacturing is a core focus for the High Value Manufacturing Catapult going forward into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
